Second Day Off
Well. It's my second day off school. Sadly, it's a Friday, which means that my sickness is going to run into the weekend, which means that I can have no social life and will spend two days straight waiting...waiting..waiting, for my first-time-ever-from-the-net-ordered-yarn!! It's from Ozeyarn, I decided in the end. They were the cheapest, and when I sent for a sample card a few days ago, it cam in seriiously..like, two or three days. Which is quick for Queensland to Adeleaide post, which is normally absolute CRAP. Takes a week to get it from here to there usually, and the same time to ship something over seas, prolly, too! Least it was fast this time!
Yes, so, I got three balls of the Hierloom 8 ply Cotton for my Shapely Tank ,in the bluey mauve. Believe me, it's more blue than it looks on the net!
And one ball of the "Breeze" stuff. For Mon Petit Chou, in green though. I'm regretting that a little now, but oh well. I don't like pinks and all, though..Green isn't particualrly suitable for lingeree. Then again, I'm me, and I'm not suitable for lingeree!
I'm still pondering as to how suitable the actual yarn is for something like Chou...You know what? "Chou" means cabbage or cauliflower. I think Chouchou is the correct term though, as in "darling, pet". Then it's "My Little Darling" instead of "My Little Cabbage"..Though, mines gonna be green, I may well call it my little Cabbage. Hehe.
I also sent for a free sample card from Rare Yarns. That should be here soon, I hope. Though, I think the prices are way out of my price range. Way. The only people who would appriciate such expensive, quality yarns would be those you can make stuff out of them themselves. So what's the point? Maybe as a present for me when I've got a job!
Yes, I am going to apply for a job at Subway. Just casual, after school stuff. Also put in for a job at Spotlight, the big craft chain in these parts. Though even if "I was an employee, I would not reccomend you go there looking for really good yarns. Like, they do have some good stuff, like Katia and all. Other long German names and French yarns and stuff, but most of the stuff is pretty expensive for what it is. Huge range though, for those just starting out. I shop there because I can't afford anything else and don't mind any yarn, so long as it's soft. Yeah.
I would actually more like a job at the LYS. There are two, one is full of snotty, look-down-their-noses on you people, though there is one nice woman. The other is run by just this one lady who is nice and helpfull and all. I would like to work for her, you know? But I don't know how to ask for a job! Like, I don't want to appear to be implying that she can't run the joint herself. Uh. Yeah. So, I will ponder.
I just took a photo of my progress in the altered Penny. Mm. The camera..died. I planned on tkaing more.Liek of the yarns I'm using. The colours are great. I'm not sure if I like them together. Oh well. Mum said Dad would like it, greys and blues. I like them normally, I'm just not sure if I like these greys and blues together. Also wanted to take a photo of the stopped WIP, my too cool for school gloves. Though, I could do with some glvoes right about now. Did I tell you that a few days ago my toes were so cold and uncovered that they went a bluey-purple. Not the reddy-purple, the bluey-purple! ARGH! Though, I think that calls for socks more than gloves. But my fingers are still cold and in need of glovage. Am going to learn how to knit socks. One day.
I've decided that I now, officially, quite like crepe yarns. I mean, sure, they may not be suitable for EVERYTHING, but who's going to stop me?! They have this nice squishy, bubbley, stretchy texture. They feel like cord. I really like it.
I also plan to one day make Rogue. I haven't yet bought the pattern. I will soon though. But for the moment, I'm improving my cableing skills. I though I was alright at cables, I made this cable hat once. From Head Huggers. And it was easy. The cables were good. Good, I say! But now I'm trying that Simple Celtic cable from Girl from Auntie, and there are holes everywhere. So, I'm just going to keep trying till it's good. Then, when I am satisfied with my skills at cables, (I'll probably try the Durrow cable, too.) I will purchase the pattern. And the millions of dollars worth of yarn. *Sigh*.
Mm, it's good. I'm not intimidated by things like that, because I like to learn. I like to have more knowledge than others, not to be (or think that I am) better than then, but so that I can share with them. Because don't like to share much, other than knowledge. Even knowledge will only be shared with those worthy. Hah, aren't I royal?
Ok, well...Seeing as I have no pictures to post, which is disappointing and simply annoying, to both you and me, I must now say good bye1
